
The International Academy of Design and Technology is a career-oriented Academy located in the Detroit Metro Area. IADT focuses on developing well-trained and qualified entrants into the fashion workforce. IADT fashion students are taught the skills to turnt their dreams into reality; how to bring bring their conceptual design to a finished product. They learn how to integrate fashion concepts with real world business practices and practical concerns, and are trained in the technical tools needed to become successful in this highly competitive industry.

World famous as the home of the American automobile industry, Detroit or the "Motor City", does not get enough credit for its arts and cultural environment. Detroit is a thriving cosmopolitan center, and home to a diverse mix of mind-expanding opportunities. It is home to the recently renovated Max M. Fisher Music Center, home to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and also fittingly to The Walter P. Chrysler Museum, which houses more than 65 vehicles showcasing DaimlerChrysler's American heritage. From 1959 to 1972, Detroit was also home to Motown Records, which created and marketed hit records better and in larger volume than any record company in the world. From Marvin Gaye to the Jackson 5, Motown represented some of the most popular and influential musical acts to hit the national scene.
The International Academy of Design and Technology offers both an intense, two-year Associate Degree in Fashion Design program or a Bacheor's of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. Both programs are designed to prepare graduates for a career in fashion design, fashion apparel and accessory production and fashion marketing. The Fashion Design curriculum integrates the study of innovations and new trends in the fast-paced global fashion industry with the mastery of conventional skills, giving a well-rounded background to both fashion novices and experts alike. This means students may have classes that vary from computer-based fashion design programs to trend analysis. They must also hone their ability to present their ideas both visually and verbally.
